Here is an exciting antique tea service in excellent condition, probably made in the Staffordshire district of England around 1810-20. It is comprised of the teapot, creamer, sugar bowl with a very ornate lid, six teacups and five saucers. The shapes are sophisticated and complex, making the set great for display. The decoration features strawberries, always a popular motif. Overall, the luster glaze is in wonderful shape with only the slightest wear. (One piece shows the fingerprint of a worker at the factory. He held it by the rim before glazing and the oil from his finger showed up under the glaze when it was fired.) Condition is superlative, but there are a few condition points to mention: a chip inside the rim of the sugar bowl, unseen when the lid is on, an extremely tiny chip to the tip of the teapot finial, and a chip to the rim of the teapot lid. In addition, one saucer has two short hairlines on the rim, one with a chip (stabilized). This is very minor damage for a set this old and having this many pieces. The rest are in near mint condition, with the glaze hardly worn. The best of the best.
