This early handpainted Worcester set pays homage to the millions of pieces of blue and white Chinese porcelain that flooded into Europe during the 18th century. Not only the design but also the handleless and fluted shape is Chinese in inspiration. Worcester was justifiably proud of its blue and white pieces, for their sturdiness and their decorative values. This set has some tiny chips to the outside edges of the flutes and a three-quarters inch hairline on the cup.
