About Us

I hope you will see from my descriptions and my published article on Steiff fraud (see the link to the right in my Favorite Links) that I am knowledgeable and passionate about the items I sell. I derive almost as much pleasure in describing my treasures as I do from admiring them in my own vitrines. I sell the things I love and collect because I know the most about them. Although jewelry and other vintage collectibles show up in my shop on many occasions, Steiff and silver overlay are my two passions.

I stopped counting the members of my Steiff collection years ago, but I believe 800 would not be too far wrong as an estimate. Likewise, I don’t know how many silver overlay items I own. But for both of these passions, selling vs. keeping has been a big problem for me in the two decades-plus I have been a dealer. I exercise the same diligence and quality standards in choosing items for myself as I do for resale; more than a few times, I have kept an item for myself instead of offering it for sale to other collectors as I originally intended!

My hope is that the items you see in my shop will be presented so positively and informatively that you will become a true collector, even if up to the point you saw one, you were just a looker or a casual purchaser. I want to create the enthusiasm I feel in everyone who visits my shop, and I admit, with some pride, that I have successfully created “addicts” on numerous occasions. ;-)

In earlier versions of this introductory information, I included snippets of quotes from customers to give you a feel for what doing business with me was like for them. I no longer need those partial quotes because Ruby Lane now allows any potential customers of mine to read the full reviews my customers kindly take the time to write. I invite you to read those reviews, and I hope that one day, your review will be among them!
