Frosted red round brilliants, cranberry aurora borealis chatons and pink rhinestones combine with ruby red glass cabochons exploding with color and sparkle in these amazing large, gently domed gold tone clip earrings, circa 1950s.
The button style earrings measure a generous 1 1/4 inches across with a 1/4 inch profile or dome. Largest stones are approximately 9 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is about 22 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All stones original and intact, retaining treatments, colors and sparkle. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. All gold tone finish intact, fronts and backs. (The backs of these earrings are finished as nicely as the fronts.) Earring clips strong and secure. Minor age commensurate wear only. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Inside of each earring clip is signed "PAT. PEND." preceded by an "A" within a circle. It is similar to the copyright symbol with an "A" instead of the usual "C". We have not seen this registration or copyright symbol before and are not sure what the "A" signifies -- most likely some type of licensing stamp.
Enter the golden age of rhinestones with a roar. Resplendent in red. From Cody's.
