Platinum tone rhodium richly plates Eisenberg's '50s vintage layered fur clip aglitter with marquise and dentelle faceted chaton rhinestones. At center a huge pear shaped rhinestone anchors. Though smaller in size than many Eisenberg fur clips, style, substance and sparkle show off the company's commitment to quality whatever the measurements may be.
These days fur clips can be repurposed for use on heavier fabrics, hats, scarves, sashes and belts and faux furs.
The clip is approximately 2 inches x 1 1/2 inches with a generous 1/2 inch profile or height. Large pear shaped rhinestone is about 18 millimeters x 13 millimeters; dentelle faceted chatons, 7 millimeters and marquises, 10 millimeters x 5 millimeters. Weight of the clip is 22 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage with caveat. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and uniformly clear and brilliant. No dark, cloud, or dead stones. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. to stones. All remain secure within their pronged settings. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All soldering secure. Extremely clean. Fur clip prongs sharp -- guards intact. All soldering secure. Lustrous rhodium plate intact, front and back.
An important caveat: There is no snap shut feature on this clip. In order to secure the clip the prong shafts and the pair of sharp bottom guards must be pierced through suitable (heavier) material. The prong shafts are then pinched or squeezed together to fit between the guards for a tight, stay shut closure. Since we are not sure if this was the design or the clip has been compromised, price is reflective.
The clip is signed on reverse in block caps: "EISENBERG". No copyright symbol. Circa 1950s.
