Spectacular rhinestones and glass beads adorn every available space in this fantastic 1950s vintage brooch and earrings demi in goldtone from Kramer. Myriad cuts include chaton, marquise, emerald, oval, baguette and pear. The largest chaton is dentelle faceted and dog tooth pronged in a pie crust setting. (All settings are closed back.) Dangling glass beads are the crowning glory. Kramer has spared nothing in their top of the line demi. Rhinestone colors are in peridot, cognac, and shades of topaz with selected bi-color marquises, hinting of watermelon gold, green and pink. Glass beads pop in golden topaz.
The set includes the crescent shaped brooch at a generous approximate 3 inches x 1 3/4 inch with a profile ranging from 5/16 inch to 1/2 inch. The largest oval stones are each about 16 millimeters x 12 millimeters. Matching clip earrings are approximately 1 inch x 1 inch. Weight of the demi is about 56 grams.
Condition is excellent / pristine vintage and along with quality are prime considerations for premium evaluation. All rhinestones are intact with excellent cuts, color and clarity. All retain outstanding brilliance. All glass beads intact with no chips, cracks or breaks. All goldtone finishes intact, front and back. All soldering secure. Pin back straight, strong and secure. Earring clips secure. No damage / no repairs.
Reverse of each original earring clip is signed in block caps "KRAMER" with no copyright symbol. Although the brooch is not signed it is a definite part of this demi. As I've stressed many times before -- keep those sets together!
When considering vintage jewelry, buy the best of what you like and can afford. Inspect materials, workmanship and condition. If you're into signed pieces, find out about the maker -- who were these people? You'll be surprised just how connected and related these vintage jewelry "families" were. Kramer was a major force in the trade and their influences in the business, vast. The demi pictured is a prime example of a premium line they were offering in the early 1950s. Give it some serious consideration. It is gorgeous!
