La belle époque indeed. Boucher's breathtaking tribute to the beautiful era (circa 1890-1914) offers a platinum tone rhodium plate, rhinestone encrusted collar necklace, circa 1950. A central bow motif is flanked by ribbon loop links, all pave set with tiny clear chaton rhinestones. Marquise rhinestones tip while baguette rhinestones top. Bilateral rhinestone set, box link chains secure via rhinestone embellished fold over clasp.
The belle époque period incorporated Edwardian and Nouveau elements to produce, we think, some of the most beautiful jewelry of the 20th century. Marcel Boucher, a Paris trained Cartier jeweler used his expertise in the field of "real" jewelry to create some of the finest faux jewels, both at Mazer Brothers and later, his own company.
The collar style necklace presented measures a fixed approximate 15 inches with fold over clasp. Decorative center section spans about 6 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches at it's widest point. Thickness or height maxes at 5/16 inch. Weight is a substantial 76 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All rhinestones intact and sparkling. Slight dimming of stones commensurate with age. Rhodium plate intact front and back of centerpieces. Some finish wear to reverse of bilateral box chain links. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All links aligned and secure. Fold over clasp secure. Very clean. No repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of necklace is signed: "BOUCHER" "PAT. PEND." and the design / inventory number "3049". Marks are consistent with an early 1950s production date, most likely 1950.
