Henry and Yvette Bogoff founded the Spear Novelty Company in the 1920s, producing rhinestone buttons and accessories. The company morphed into "Jewels by Bogoff" in 1946, focusing on distinctive rhinestone jewelry. Operations ceased in 1959. Bogoff rhinestone jewelry has a signature look that often features leafy rhinestone set link chains, rhinestone encrusted rosettes / floral designs and rhodium plated metals. Since the jewelry line was limited from 1946-1959 examples are limited and can be difficult to find.
The platinum toned rhodium plated pendant style necklace offered, circa 1950s, is comprised of bilateral bar links, each set with a trio of rhinestone chatons. Closure is via rhinestone set fold over clasp. The center is linked with a bulbous speared bail paved with chaton rhinestones. A baguette and chaton rhinestone encrusted pendant swings below.
The necklace is a wearable fixed approximate 15 inches with fold over clasp. Chain width is about 1/8 inch. Pendant with bail provides an additional 1 1/2 inches x 1 inch at it's widest point. Baguette rhinestone are approximately 5 millimeters x 2 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is 30 grams.
