This pearlware dessert compote (or comport) is English, ca. 1815. The transfer design is the "Net" pattern, a very "busy" design inspired by Asian ceramics. It gets its name from the honeycomb "netting" as a background in some areas. Both transfer and shape were used by Spode as well as other companies. Since this is unmarked, we cannot be certain of the manufacturer.
Size: Approximately 12.25" long, 9" wide 4.25" high.
Condition: Very good. One small shallow chip on bottom of foot, one flake on outside of one of the points of bowl.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
