The popular Oriental pattern shown here features a dark blue transfer pattern which has been enhanced with color. This has been called the most popular polychrome with luster Chinoiserie pattern. The pattern is commonly referred to as "The Tea House". The scene on the plate shows two Oriental maidens in a garden, one holding a vase while the other holds a lute. Both are looking off to the garden at the left. Inside the garden house (or tea house) to the right is a seated figure. This figure, presumably the chaperon, sitting in the house and can be seen through the window. The rims of these pieces have beautiful floral and geometric designs outlined in black with just slight colors to the flowers. They are placed on a honey brown background. Next to the brown rim are beautiful flowers enhances with red, green and gold. Colors and transfer are still nice and bright. There is a crack on the lid of the sugar and the lid to the tea pot is missing a piece on the lower rim. The spout of the creamer has a repair and there is a hairline on the lower portion of the creamer handle. Please see pictures for condition.
