The Harriet Elberson Free Doll & Toy Museum Collection Provenance:
When our mother decided to take on a new interest, she jumped in 150%! She lived it, breathed it, mastered it. As a child who had a limited childhood, she was drawn to antique dolls and toys. For years, she went to antique shops, antique shows, flea markets, private sales treasure hunting, collecting antique dolls, toys, antique jewelry, lace, ribbon and cloth. Very gifted, detail oriented, the collection filled her home before being put on loan to the museum in historic Deer Lodge where she lived most of her adult life.
Her collection of antique, vintage and replica artist dolls along with antique and vintage toys and teddy bears has been displayed since 2000 in the Powell County Historic Museum in Deer Lodge Montana. Her large collection is housed in Yesterdays Playthings, one of the original historic prison administration buildings and is on display from May until the fall. The jewelry offered is the remaining collection of antique and vintage jewelry hand picked over the years for use on her antique and replica dolls.
