This is a pretty little Terra Rose ruffled edge bowl. The bowl has mottled green on the inside and the outside is mauve or pink. Terra Cotta or Terra Rose is one of Stangl’s most popular finishes.
The bowl is marked on the bottom Stangl Pottery, Trenton, NJ, It is also incised Stangl, U. S. A. 3505. The initials WE are on the bottom under the glaze.
The bowl measures approximately 4 ¾" in diameter and 2 ½” deep.
The condition is good but there is one tiny chip on the outside rim. There is no crazing or any other condition problems.
The Stangl pottery was one of the oldest and most successful potteries in the United States. It was started by Samuel Hill in Flemington, NJ in 1814. It was acquired by Abram Fulper during the 1860’s and remained in business until it closed in 1978.
