This is a very lovely Aesthetic Movement brown transferware two handled vegetable or serving bowl in the Wheat pattern. It was manufactured by T & R Boote, Waterloo Potteries, England. It dates to around 1891.
It is decorated with brown wheat, small brown flowers, daisies with yellow centers and small blue flowers. The handles are ornate and decorated with brown. The sides of the casserole are molded and there is raised detailing on each side of the handles. It is a beautifully designed piece.
There is an impressed Registry No. on the back that reads “Tuscan” with the Numbers 124378. The manufacturer’s mark is also stamped on the back and has the Registry No. 168549.
It is in very nice condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are normal minor imperfections in the manufacture.
It measures approximately 11 ½” from handle to handle and is 2 ½” deep.
