This is a really wonderful oval shaped black lacquer tea caddy. The tea caddy has a solid pewter insert. It dates to around the early 1800’s. It has a key which is very unusual. The keys for these old tea caddies are almost always missing.
The condition overall is fair. The black lacquer veneer is cracking and is fragile. The hinge is loose. The pewter insert is in good condition but has some dings and shows age. It has been priced for condition.
This is a nice unusual and compact size caddy.
The caddy measures approximately 6 ¾” by 4 ½” by 4” high.
