This outstanding rhinestone necklace was made by ORA circa 1950s. It could have been called 'Aura' because Ora does have an aura of superior quality, lavish glamor and classic beauty in the style of the Art Deco greats (Ora was among them but wasn't signing its jewelry back then. The Ora name began circa 1949.).
This necklace is rhodium plated silvertone. It's made with dozens of individual links to give it a very limber, articulated look. There are probably a couple of hundred clear round sparkly rhinestones inlaid into a couple of hundred settings. Every stone is present because they're set flush with the metal, making it harder to knock them out. (A sure sign of fine jewelry making.)
The necklace measures 15. 3/4 inches long. It's 1/2 inch wide. The rhinestone clasp is a secure foldover. It's made to blend right into the design.
The back is marked ORA. The necklace is in excellent vintage condition. It's truly a gorgeous piece of jewelry.
The company began in 1921 (from Italy). They were known for their fine quality costume jewelry and even made pins and buttons for the Eisenberg line.
