Victorian Diamond, Ruby, and Ruby Ring - image 1 of 7

This is a very interesting ring. I don't think I've ever seen one quite like it. In the center there is a pear shaped, rose cut diamond, closed backed. It is quite a nice sized diamond (about a carat in size, though of course we don't weigh rose cut diamonds in the same way as modern one; this is just to give an idea), surrounded by four rubies, and 4 nice sized pearls. I am not certain that the pearls are natural pearls, because they look very good to be original natural pearls. If they are, all the better, but the pearls could well be a later addition. The gold is unmarked but tested 16 carat (it may well have been supposed to be 18 carat, but my digital tester tests it at 16 carat), and it is a size 6, though it could be sized by someone used to working on antique jewelry. The ring weighs 3.83 grams, and measures the jeweled part measures 3/4 of an inch and 5/8 of an inch East to West. This one is unique. It is circa 1880!
