This antique gold, French ring is a very special symbolic token of love. The central element is a locket with a fine bezel set bloodstone. The locket opens and reveals a hidden compartment which could house a fine lock of hair. The shank has a trail of tulips terminating with two tulips flanking either end of the locket. In the language of flowers, a tulip represents perfect and true love. The double tulips signifies the union. This is a subtle and beautiful ring which would have been given or received in love.
It has a poncoin, or French guarantee stamp for 18 karat gold of a chicken on the shank of the ring . This mark represents the years of 1798-1809 in France.
The ring is completely original, in excellent condition and has a beautiful patina. It is a size 8 US. What a wonderful token of love.... France, circa 1800.
