Offered here is the beloved Hull Little Red Riding Hood Teapot with One Flower on her skirt. This Little Red Riding Hood has blue eyes, round pink cheeks, and blond hair peeking out from under her famous red hood. Her cape is tied with a gold bow, and her dress is decorated with blue lines at the collar and at the hem of her skirt. The front of her skirt is decorated with a single orange-red poppy decal accented with purple flowers and green leaves. Her yellow and brown cross-hatch basket is looped over her left arm and blends into the gold-trimmed handle, while her other arm rests at her side and forms the spout. Red's head and shoulders form the cover of this charming teapot.
This teapot measures 8-3/4 inches tall with the cover and about 4-1/4 inches without the lid. It is 7-3/4 inches across the handle and spout, and 6-1/2 inches wide. The opening is 4-1/4 inches long by 2-1/4 inches wide.
Little Red Riding Hood was one of Hull's most popular lines, patented by Louise Bauer in 1943 and continued in production until around 1957.
The incised “U.S.A.” on the bottom is so faint that it is almost invisible, but can be seen when held in the right light.
The underside of the lid has a 1/2 inch chip where it fits down inside the teapot and won’t be seen. There are scratches in her cape, especially on the hood, and in her rosy left cheek, and the gold on the tie of her cape is worn. The bottom of the teapot shows little wear and no visible crazing.
