This is an Elgin pocket watch in an Illinois open face case. The movement serial number 18125230 makes this a grade 286 and dates it from 1903 to 1927. I believe that it is a 7 jewel, 6S size movement.
The gold tone case is marked Illinois Watch Case Co. Elgin U.S.A. Peerless, Guaranteed 20 years, 2881918. The back of this lightly engine turned case is hinged.
It measures 1-7/8” in diameter excluding the stem and bail.
I am not a watch aficionado. My description of condition is primarily based on the visual. The watch does not work and the gears do not move. The spring looks small/short and appears to have a crimp. I suspect that the case is gold filled and it shows rubbing and brassing. Fine crackling to the enameled face.
