About Us
My store offers Victorian and Georgian coral jewelry, Zuni earrings, turquoise cluster bracelets, Native American beadwork, stunning concho belts, bandolier bags, historical Native American artifacts and original impressionist oil paintings. My name is Rachel Uchizono and I have lived in Laguna Beach, California for twenty years. I paint Plein Air, which means to paint landscapes on location. Laguna Beach has a rich tradition of plein air painting. Many great painters have set up their easel and painted Laguna locations that remain unchanged. William Wendt, Edger Payne and Hanson Puthuff to name a few of the great artists that founded the original Laguna Beach art colony in the 1920's. My paintings are of canyons, eucalyptus trees and seascapes. In my studio I paint my stuffed peacock, flowers from my garden and persimmons. I have exhibited at Studio 7 Gallery for 18 years and exhibited at the Sawdust Festival for 20 years. Offered for sale at my gallery are my paintings as I paint them. As of the first of January in 2016, I have moved to Roanoke, Virginia. I am on a new adventure. I will return to Laguna Beach this year as a summer Sawdust Festival exhibitor.
I have sought out Native American collectibles all of my life and things for sale are not just inventory, they are personal choices from a dedicated collector. Being an artist I am attracted to beautiful things and I wish to share them with you. Check back with me often because you never know what you will find!
