About UsMy store offers a great variety of Victorian and Georgian coral jewelry, antique emerald earrings, Zuni earrings, turquoise cluster bracelets, Native American beadwork, stunning concho belts, bandolier bags, historical Native American artifacts and original impressionist oil paintings.
My name is Rachel Uchizono and I have lived in Laguna Beach, California for sixteen years. I paint Plein Air, which means to paint landscapes on location. Laguna Beach has a rich tradition of plein air painting. Many great painters have set up their easel and painted Laguna locations that remain unchanged. William Wendt, Edger Payne and Hanson Puthuff to name a few of the great artists that founded the original Laguna Beach art colony in the 1920's. My paintings are of canyons, eucalyptus trees and seascapes. In my studio I paint my stuffed peacock, flowers from my garden and persimmons. I have exhibited at Studio 7 Gallery for 14 years and exhibited at the Sawdust Festival for 13 years. Offered for sale at my gallery are my paintings as I paint them. As of the first of January in 2016, I have moved to Roanoke, Virginia. I am on a new adventure. I will return to Laguna Beach as a summer Sawdust Festival exhibitor and my paintings can still be found in North Laguna at Studio 7.
I have sought out Native American collectables all of my life and things for sale are not just inventory, they are personal choices from a dedicated collector. Being an artist I am attracted to beautiful things and I wish to share them with you. Check back with me often because you never know what you will find!
Comments from customers:
"Nothing could make me more happy than to receive your belt.
It's got to be in the world of belts "the best of belts anywhere"
No wonder the French vogue snapped it up for it's shots!!
Too beautiful. Well I must say you've got great
taste, I love everything you have. After seeing the belt, and
knowing the way you operate, I really trust you!"
"Any way thank you so much for such a nice, nice, nice surprise today when I opened up a dream!
"The earrings are AMAZING--very comfortable and look
fantastic on! I wore them yesterday on a very windy day and
walking headed in to the wind they actually "sing" (whistle
faintly). I have never experienced that before but how
appropriate for a native American piece. I love they are not
polished and retain their past--I will keep them so. You have so
many lovely pieces I hope to be back! Thank you so much!"
I received the marvelous coral necklace by Federal Express this morning, just as you promised. An elegant dark green jeweler's box announced the treasure inside !
But I wasn't prepared for the magic of the antique coral beads themselves, their rich glossy color in a delicate rainbow of hues, the subtle irregularity of the hand-carved beads, fat and flattened a bit, which causes the necklace to glimmer as each bead catches the light. The cameo in the clasp is just beautiful, Rachel ! .. and quite finishes off this antique piece. I have long light chestnut hair which I always wear up when I go out. The cameo is so terribly beautiful in its golden sheath as a gracious jewel at the nape of the neck, isn't it ? It tastefully punctuates this antique treasure with finesse.
In a word.. My husband and I are so very pleased with this 'merveilleux' necklace from long ago days. As a gift from him to me I find it terribly romantic as a token of the importance of the many years we have spent together. Rather unbelievably we will have been married for 44 years on June 15th ! .. living in and near Paris since 1970.
It now remains for me to thank you for your attentiveness and kind offer to send this beautiful piece by the surest means possible. It meant very much for me to be able to follow its path from a faraway shore in California to the City of Lights in France.
So thank you, Rachel, for everything .. the wonderful antique coral necklace, your allowing me to purchase it in the manner I have, your patient collaboration with the many very helpful photos of your lovely necklaces, too and then the timely expedition of this jewel. You may certainly expect that I will become an eager and loyal client."
"I just picked up the package at the post office over lunch and am
wearing the bracelets. They are as beautiful as pictured and
described. I'm very glad I bought them." :)
