Founded by Rona Bierrum FGA DGA EG GIA DG AJP in 2016, ShinyPrettyThings offers a range of vintage and antique jewellery, with a focus on quality of design and craftsmanship.Rona is a globally recognised gemmology expert and diamond grader with over a decade's experience of handling fine antique and vintage jewellery.
Leaving a PhD in Fine Art, Rona joined the jewellery world in 2007. Working for a Bond Street jeweller for 4 years, she then took a year off to study gemmology; graduating with honours and earning the prestigious Deeks Diamond Prize and Bruton Medal in 2012.
Rona has since taught gemmology and diamond grading to hundreds of students in her role as Visiting Senior Tutor at the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) between 2013 and 2020. She also wrote and edited their online diploma lessons, and expanded her learning with FEEG and GIA (Diamond Graduate and Accredited Jewelry Professional). Rona remains a member of a number of gemmology associations worldwide.
While expanding and sharing her gemmological knowledge, Rona continued to work freelance; buying fine jewellery at markets and fairs around the world, researching these finds, then selling them on to a range of well-known and highly respected jewellers in London, New York, California and Paris.
Shiny Pretty Things Ltd represents Rona's move into retail, bringing her finds directly to you, the customer.
If there is anything more you would like to know about the pieces you see here or about jewellery or gemstones in general, please do get in touch - I love hearing from you and am always happy to help!

CROSS-BORDER SHIPMENTS
Buyers are responsible for import taxes or duties. If applicable, we will send the item as antique (over 100 years of age), in which case many countries (including the USA) do not charge an import tax. Duties may still be payable. In this case, an antique declaration will be generated and shared with you by email. If you are uncertain about the taxes or duties in your country, please do not hesitate to contact us.
RETURNS
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
If you would like to return your purchase for any reason, please contact us within 3 business days of receipt to discuss the return (14 days for EU members).
You will then need to return the purchase to us in its original packaging within 48 hours via a secure and insured service, at your expense.
If you are returning an item from outside the UK, the original customs label or the original Commercial Invoice must be stuck to the outside of the returned package. You must also return the package from the country it was originally shipped to. Failure to do so may result in our being charged a non-refundable customs clearance fee and VAT at 20%. If this happens, we regret that we will have to deduct these costs from your refund.
Items must be returned to us in the same condition as they were shipped – we cannot accept returns for a refund that has been worn, damaged, broken or altered in any way. If you happen to notice any problems with your item on arrival, please contact us immediately.
Please note that if any alterations have been made to your jewel – including ring sizing – then we will be unable to accept it as a return. This counts even if our jeweller did the work, as the piece would then class as a custom item.
