This decorative piece was made by the Frankoma Potteries of Oklahoma. It was called the #59, 6 ½” Canteen with the Thunderbird pattern. The southwestern design is on both the front and back. I believe this is their Brown Satin glaze over the lighter, red Sapulpa clay. This piece was introduced in 1942 and continued in production until 1988. The bottom is not stamped with the FRANKOMA name or design number which dates this to the earlier part of the production run.
It measures about 6 5/8” tall without the cork, 7” across the widest part and 1 7/8” thick. It is in very good condition with no damage and comes with its original leather strap. The cork may not be original but fits as though it is.
