This elongated serving dish is in Heisey’s pale yellow color known as Sahara. The pattern with its simple lines and flared handles is known as #1401 Empress and was made by A.H. Heisey & Co. of Newark, Ohio. This is marked with the Diamond H trademark but not on the usual places. You have to look closely to see that it is marked along the lower edge of the side which I have indicated in the photo. This dish can be used for serving candy and nuts beside its original purpose of celery, olives and other condiments.
It measures about 13 ¼” to the outside of the handles and the inside portion measures about 10 ½” by 3 3/8”. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no chips or cracks. There are mold lines in the lines from manufacturing and there are some faint water stains which I have also noted in the photo.
I am showing this piece with another, smaller dish in Moongleam which I have for sale to show how they nest together. The dishes are being sold separately.
