This colorful little noise maker is an old tin clicker advertising Pez candy. The Austrian candy and its unique dispenser were a hit from the start. The Peppermint flavor was the first one introduced which is what this toy depicts. The Pez girl in her uniform and pill box hat holds a dispenser in her left hand. When the lever on the back is squeezed her arm lowers so it appears that she is dispensing a piece of candy into the hand of the eager boy kneeling on the large Pez package. Across the bottom of the package it reads; “from the Pez Box”. Besides the action, the steel spring makes a loud “click” noise when it is depressed. The stamped tin toy is lithographed in bright colors and it was made in U.S. Zone Germany dating this to the late 1940’s.
It measures about 3 ½” wide by 2 3/8” to the top of the Pez hat and is in very nice condition good color and gloss and minimal wear. There is some paint loss where the piece moves back and forth which you can see in the close up but the rest of the rub and scratch wear is minimal. There is minor discoloration on the back.
