This old tin once Moxie Candy. Moxie was a popular, carbonated beverage in the early 1900’s. It was said to have medicinal qualities, perhaps because it was created by a doctor or maybe because of its bitter flavor. This was a 5c tin for the “Distinctively Different” Moxie candy that had the same flavor as the beverage. On the front of the 3/5 oz. tin is the Moxie Man and on the back is the Horsemobile that traveled as part of the company advertising campaign. The candy was manufactured by The Moxie Co. of America.
It measures about 1 5/8” by 2 ¾” by 5/8” and is in nice condition nice with light wear. It has some minor scratch wear and soiling. There is also some paint loss, primarily along the top edges of the lid and around the base.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
