Australia has a rich source of Victorian and Edwardian jewelry due to its establishment as a British colony. Colonial Australian jewelry really wasn't produced until after the discovery of gold in the 1850s. I am fascinated by the history of different pieces of jewelry and the fact that they have been worn and treasured by other women so that they have survived until today. I like to collect Australian made jewelry when I can but also love mourning jewelry and Grand Tour pieces.
