About UsDawn and Michael have been involved with marine mollusc research for over 40 years, having spent 13 years as owners and curators of the esteemed Sea Shell Museum which was situated firstly in South Africa, and then at Hervey Bay on the Queensland coast of Australia. We have spent the last decade researching mother of pearl artifacts. Together with Pat Martin of Home Farm Antiques we wrote the first book in English on mother of pearl; Mother of Pearl Antiques and Collectibles which was published by Schiffer Publications in 2014 and which contains photos of over 5000 items.
Now that we have achieved this goal, we are specialising in a smaller field of mother of pearl research and so we are offering treasures from our research collection that we no longer need. These items have been hand selected, and we have spent a considerable amount of time on research establishing their age and usage.
Our new specialty for our research collection is mother of pearl carvings and we always welcome information on the subject from readers. We just love the challenge of learning more about these treasures from the past.
As we are situated in Australia in a different time zone to most of our buyers you will always get an answer the next day. We promise to give you the best service and we are pleased to help you with further information or any queries you might have on any of our items.
