About Us

In 2017, we took over a small farm from the estate of a friend of the family. The day we arrived, our house was 101 years old and our barn turned 110. We are slowly but surely restoring the pasture, gardens, outbuildings, and orchards that had fallen into disrepair.

In 1962 the previous owner updated the kitchen for his wife, Laverne. When she was killed in a farming accident not long after, he sold the farm to his son and never lived in the house again. The son rented the house and let a variety of contractors paint over the pine cupboards and the turquoise wall oven, but the bones of the kitchen survived until we arrived, a time capsule just waiting for some elbow grease and my vintage kitchen wares that I had been collecting in a Lane hope chest.

This shop is an outlet for all the wonderful pieces I just had to have, but no longer have room to display appropriately. As an avid auction goer since my parents started me on a two dollar spending limit in 1976, I can never let a bit of kitsch pass me by. I scour rural garage sales and auctions looking to finish all my china sets and picking up way too many treasures along the way. Laverne's Kitchen is packed so it's time to share!
