About UsJ.A. Baker is a company that appraises personal property and handles all aspects of estate and tag sales as well as comprehensive liquidation services. The jobs we handle daily vary in scope and nature. We have handled the complete liquidation of a 23,000 square foot residential estate. We were called upon to sell a rare book collection that numbered more than 6,500 volumes. And we are very often the expert that families turn to after the death of a loved one leaves a home filled with possessions acquired over a lifetime. It is our goal to approach each of these jobs with the same level of expertise, care and competence you deserve. We are confident we can meet all your needs and exceed your expectations.
Founded by Jeff Baker, an executive with extensive retail, production, development, management and sales experience, J.A. Baker LLC has built a reputation for dependable and honest service.
Jeff Baker is an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers and meets the Qualified Appraiser requirements of the IRS. He is an accomplished Executive with over 17 years experience in the furniture and antiques business working for some of central Ohio’s most visionary and successful furniture and home goods retail organizations.
Baker is a past President of Global Living where he was responsible for all aspects of this “start-up” retail operation, including company vision, domestic and international purchasing, sales, marketing, staff management, client contact and development. By the close of the second full year of operations, Baker was responsible for doubling original sales projections.
Baker also served as Divisional Merchandise Manager for American Signature, Inc. where he was responsible for the product development of several of the company’s most profitable furniture lines.
Baker’s keen eye for identifying and valuing property also comes from his experience as an owner of an Antique Import Business that he founded in 1994. Along with sourcing containers from Europe, Baker maintained a seven-thousand foot warehouse space to house and store antiques.
Baker’s proven track record of identifying and developing market trends, strategic thinking and problem solving is key to J.A. Baker LLC’s continued success. This varied and expert business acumen was recognized in 2004 with Business First’s 40 Under 40 Award.
Along with being an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers and meeting the Qualified Appraiser requirements of the IRS, Baker is certified in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and as an Appraiser of Fine Art.
Our Ruby Lane Shop is run by Allyssa Hixenbaugh, ISA AM. She holds a BA from The Ohio State University in Art History and has obtained accredited membership with the International Society of Appraisers. Allyssa specializes in dolls, fine art, and jewelry.
