About UsI take pride in finding and sharing pieces of the past and their individual histories. If you receive an item of mine and it is not what you expected from the photos and description, please contact me. Your satisfaction is my primary aim.
I am not a jeweler. I am only a woman who stumbled onto an estate sale one time and couldn't stop at just one.
When my great-grandmother was widowed as a young woman at the turn of the century, she found work as a milliner. I always admired her spirit and sense of beauty. Hettie is a name on my family tree. When I had to find a name for my shop, my imagination drew from childhood memories of exploring in attics and hatboxes, and family stories about the strong and resourceful women in my ancestry. (The men were strong and resourceful, too, but not so interested in antiques and jewelry.)
I trained in The Hunt at my mother's side growing up. Later when she emptied her retirement account to buy her own resale shop "just for fun," we continued to hunt together to stock it. After she passed away and left me with her collection of vintage costume jewelry, I had no choice but to research and find out exactly what she had left me.
Between that research and my love of estate sales, eventually Hettie's Hatbox was born. Welcome. I hope you find something to love and take home here.
I continue to learn about vintage jewelry every single day, and I do my best to find treasures to share with my customers. I hope you can find something in Hettie's Hatbox that you will want to cherish as your own.
