About Us

I would like to welcome you to my Ruby Lane Shop! I am very proud to be a member of the Ruby Lane family!

I've been an avid, and discerning, collector of antique dolls, toys and doll accessories since 1980. All of the different genre's of dolls fascinate me. Being a very eclectic collector, I love French bebe's, German characters, early china heads, papier mache's, English and Grodnertal wooden's, early oil cloth dolls, fine English poured wax dolls and French and German all-bisque's. However, my heartfelt love in antique dolls lie with the delicate and charming French fashion dolls. I am drawn to their interesting body variations and articulations, their elegant original period clothing, and their fabulous trunks, trousseau's and miniature accessories. Items that were skillfully made in miniature, by masters from days gone by, just for them!

When I first started collecting I was very fortunate to have had a wonderful mentor who taught me early on to buy the very best that I could afford. I have always followed that advice. What originally drew me to doll collecting wasn't just their beautiful faces but their interesting history and their wonderful charm, presence and the endearing thoughts and emotions they evoked in me. Knowing that a sweet child from the past had dearly loved and cared for them warmed my heart, and it still does to this day. Collecting antique dolls has brought immeasurable joy to my life and I am honored to be their custodian and preservationist for future generations to come.

As I mentioned above, I find myself drawn to the rich history that can be found in antique doll manufacturing. Researching has thus become my second favorite pastime. I enjoy learning about all their manufacturer's, patents, region of origin, body types, period clothing, models made, etc. The more I learn about them the more I love them!

I joined the United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC) in 1980. If you would like to join an organization full of the most knowledgeable collectors and dealers of antique dolls in the world, this is the one to join. Learning about your dolls will only enrich your life and bring more enjoyment to your world of doll collecting.

I am currently, and always have been, continually active in the preservation and conservation of antique dolls and toys. It's important for them to maintain their historical place in our society for future generations to come. And through our active endeavors in collecting, we are all working together to preserve these wonderful antique dolls, accessories and toys!
