WORLD DOLL DAY IS SATURDAY, JUNE 10, 2017!

NEW ARRIVALS

For World Doll Day 2017, it might be nice to stop and ponder why we all take part in the wonderful world of dolls. It is time to reflect that those who study dolls, collect dolls, sell dolls, make dolls, design dolls, read about dolls, write about dolls, and even play with dolls, got into this passion because initially, we just loved dolls! When the child in Bettina's watercolor book Dolls is asked by the narrator what kind of dolls she would like, the child replies, "Just dolls to love!" That's how we all started. Learn more about, and events centered around World Doll Day at www.worlddollday.com.

CELEBRATING THE CULTURAL AND SOCIAL VALUE OF DOLLS

Dolls serve many social functions and appear in literature, popular culture, poetry, film, and social media. They are crucial to studies of Material Culture, Sociology, Textiles, Fashion, and Cultural Geography. It is true, as Anne Rice and others have written that if you love the people of the world, you love the dolls that they make in their own image. Dolls reflect us and our history; they make our memories, and they tell our stories. They provide our livelihoods and recreation and they have served us in these capacities since the dawn of time. Here are nine New Arrivals for you to love from the Dolls Lane.
