SPECIAL SEMINAR: VICTORIA, THE ENDURING LEGACY OF LADY ALEXANDER

"Complete with her own history and retaining her original extensive wardrobe, Victoria is a rarity in the world of antique dolls. Companion to a little girl named Carrie Louise Schiff, who grew up to become Lady Alexander of Faversham, Kent, England, Victoria traveled the world and comes down to us with an astonishing provenance. Not only does Victoria possess beautiful and well-preserved original consumes made by Parisienne couturiers in the exuberant style of the 1870s, her body is the seldom found blown leather example from the French doll manufacturer Pierre Victor Clément. This body was an extraordinary invention for the period, and has stood up admirably to the test of time. Many dolls have been used for philanthropic efforts throughout the years, and Victoria is one such doll. Victoria proves the value of research and preservation of the treasures of our past." (Book jacket notes from Victoria, The Enduring Legacy of Lady Alexander by Denise Buese)

BREAK OUT THE HUNNY FOR NATIONAL WINNIE-THE-POOH DAY

Break out the Hunny, and open your invitation to The Hollow Tree in The Hundred Acre Wood. You are invited to a celebration of National Winnie the Pooh Day on January 18th! Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne was published in 1926. E. H. Shepard did the original illustrations. Pooh Bear was based on Winnipeg, Winnie for short, a bear that lived in the London Zoo. He was brought there from Canada by a World War I soldier. Christopher Robin, the hero of the Pooh stories, was the son of A.A. Milne, and he loved Winnipeg. For one day, get Hunny on your fingers, let Tiggers bounce and Eyeores mope; it's National Winnie the Pooh Day! Below are some of our favorite Pooh and Friends from the Dolls Lane, the new home of Bears and Plush. Tune into the Ruby Lane Dolls Facebook page leading up to the day for coverage of Winnie-The-Pooh history.
