I feel in love with this ring upon first sight. This ring is in Art Nouveau Style, but dates from the 1940's/50's, It is crafted from 14K Buttery gold with a natural rubellite tourmaline. The tourmaline measures roughly 1.07 carats (6.8mm x 6.8mm x 4.1mm). The stone is a lovely red with a pink and purple hue. The stone is natural with natural inclusions, but minimal. Under a loop there are water bubbles with in the stone. Tourmaline almost always has some inclusions. This is because it is formed in a wet environment. There may even be small bubbles with water inside the gem. These “bubbles” are not perfectly round. Glass also has bubbles but they are made of air and are completely spherical. These tiny bubbles are not spherical, they are naturally formed water bubbles. There are not many tiny bubbles but under a loop you can see them. The tourmaline is in a bezel setting. Besides the stone being beautiful the setting is AMAZING.... On either side of this ring are two Mermaids. Both are dressed in a star studded lower body, Exposed Chest, with an Art Nouveau style face. They are lovely and incredibly detailed. This tin is in fabulous condition with minimal wear. There is a mark on the inside of the band from someone testing the gold content directly on the piece which is a big no no, but it has been noted.
