This is a lovely deep Royal Blue Lapis Cabochon. The lapis possesses pyrite spangles nestled in the blue bodycolor—like golden stars in a summer sky. It is of very good quality. This mineral was most likely sourced from Afghanistan. Lapis has been mined there for over 6000 years according to the records. This lapis is an excellent example of a fine gem. It measures at roughly 25.5 Carats in a cabochon cut. The lapis is mounted and secured by prongs to the organic looking setting. The setting is 18K Bright hand textured gold. Each form which makes up the frame of this pendant is adorned with a round cut diamond, each measuring .02 carats each for a total of .16 Carats (16 points). The diamonds are mounted in a rose gold buttercup prong setting. The condition of this flashy pendant is fabulous with no blemishes or imperfections. It is hallmarked in several places as photographed. We have also tested the gold at 18K as well as the diamonds. We date this piece from the 1960's/70's. The stationary bail will accommodate up to a 6mm chain. (Chain not included as photographed).
