An unusual brooch. This brooch dates from the mid to late 1800s. It is crafted from 18K Yellow Gold and sterling silver with seed pearls. The center of this unique brooch feature a sterling silver Thistle which is adorned with 14 small seed pearls. The pearls are all bead prong set and original to the flower. The orient of some of the pearls has been compromised, but for its age and their size it is unnoticeable unless looped. The pearls against the silver give a shimmer effect, very attractive especially up against the gold. The thistle is mounted on the brooch with two hooks as shown in the photographs. The gold is 18K Yellow gold, tested and confirmed. There are two double crosses on each side of the flower with nice little etched swirls on each end. The back features a hook and pin which test as silver. We are assuming this is a Scottish piece as there are no hallmarks to confirm. The condition is excellent for its age.
