This is a lovely Napoleonic French pendant reliquary locket. It is crafted from Silver, Gold, Split Pearls, Natural Turquoise, Enamel & Glass. The locket is hinged on the back and fitted with Glass. The inside features a hand painted porcelain young French girl in the countryside with two sheep and flowers. She is lovely with a pink background. The pink goes smashing with the black enamel with white dots. At each direction (North south east & West are a small cluster of two turquoise cabochons and one split pearl. The porcelain plaque is faced with a zig zag gold frame. The bail finishes off the piece nicely with a four point star of turquoise and one split pearl, The bail is silver. I have added a 14K yellow gold more contemporary chain which brings out the gold frame nicely. This is a unique pendant, made of the finest materials that dates to late 1700s to very early 1800s. The condition of this piece is excellent with natural patina. The locket is filled with a bit of cotton to keep the plaque in place as it can be removed. Just under the frame to the edges of the porcelain plaque are a couple of flea bites to the edge which are not present to the outward appearance. This is not considered damage but normal wear from perhaps removing the plaque by an unsteady hand.....
