This is an early vinaigrette with a date mark from 1793. It is crafted from Sterling silver with a hand chased reticulated gold over silver Inner case. The outside features a snake for that covers both sides of this hand chased case. The snake form is an eternity form with no end. There is an initial engraving MH in the center. The case opens nicely and stays closed when needed. The inside is hinged and in perfect working order. This case bear the King George duty hallmark along with the walking lion and anchor indicating Sterling (925) Birmingham. The date code is a capitol V which dates this case to 1793. The makers hallmark is IS of which I could not positively identify. The overall condition of this case is fabulous for its age. There is wear and a tiny indentation one corner. The wear is from use and not damage. I lightly polished this piece.
