This is a superb example of a true Victorian necklace, very very similar to one from President Lincoln's Estate. It is such a well crafted piece, sure to be museum quality. It is crafted from 14K yellow gold and natural seed pearls. The necklace consists of a three tier drop which is covered in pave prong set seed pearls set in a three dimensional manner. The necklace portion consists of 20 round medallions which slightly graduate in size from the center out. They are also pave set in the same manner as the drop. Between each circular form is a single pearl spacer which is in a crimped butter cup setting. This single pearl connects the rounds to one another to create a fabulous form around the neck. The back of the necklace has been extended using a 14K box link chain which is then connected to the clasp which matches the circular forms with a tongue and grove clasp. The clasp hold is secure on the neck as long as you ensure it is properly clasped. The underside of this amazing piece is closed backed in 14K gold. There are two repairs noted; the first is on the center drop and the second on one of the graduating rounds. All of the pearls are accounted for none missing. However, I do suspect that there have been a couple of replacements, so please zoom in as my suspicions conclude that the grayish colored pearls are not original. The necklace is very wearable and not to fragile. With this being said it is a very old piece which caution and care should be used. It is never recommend to have any moisture around or on this piece.
