A lovely example of Georgian Mourning Jewelry. This brooch is crafted from 14K Yellow Gold. It is a closed back with the following inscription on the back: L.H. Lackey. The face of this brooch rests behind a beveled glass which is in superb condition for its age. Behind the glass is a lovely example of finely braided hair from a loved one. Surrounding the beveled glass are 1/2 pearls which are mounted with bead prongs and a scalloped edge. The pearls are in very good condition with very very minor signs of age. This brooch dates from the late 1700's with the condition being very very good, no noted damage. Additionally, no hallmarks were found, but confirmed testing at 14K.
