This broach glimmers as foiled back rose cut diamonds should. It is crafted from Sterling Silver (900) with a gold finish. The broach is a floral motif with 6 petals that have 4 foiled back rose cut diamonds on each petal. The center stone is a raised foiled rose cut diamond. In between each petal is a smaller petal of cobalt blue enamel. There are also tiny rose cut diamonds at the end of each petal. All of the stones are original to the piece. One of these pedals has a CHIP in the center of the petal. Only the top layer of enamel is affected so no metal shows through. The back of broach Has had some work done to it, the pin has been added at a later date with lead soldier so as to not ruin the foil backs on the diamonds or damage the enamel. Some of the gold has been worked away. The back of the broach shows some work and reminds me that the piece may have been a Georgian button or dress enhancement converted to a broach. The piece dates to the 1700 to early 1800's. There are not many of these pieces left any more and is a great addition to a collection or just to wear as a broach.
