Gorgeous old Capodimonte campagna vase with high relief decoration. I believe this is 19th century and I did find a scratched in mark aside from the underglaze crown and N mark, which reads BS 1928. I am uncertain as to the history of this mark-could it be a model # and year or is it from an old owner who dated the piece when received. The tiny pops/holes in the glaze, similar to antique Chinese porcelain tell me it is 19th century but?
It is about 9 .75" at its highest and about 11" at its widest from the tree trunk handles. One side show a couple of satyrs assisting a drunken Bacchus and the other side shows cherubs riding a donkey. There are grape bunches around the top with leaves and vines throughout the piece. Nice and heavy with no chips or repairs, perhaps some wear on grape bunch tops and 3 very small hairlines to the base edge which is from the weight and not through negligence. Nice and clean and awesome for its age.
