This is a gorgeous painting and we are not certain of the age, although I had a collector look at it and said it was 16th or 17th century but I am just not sure. He said it was signed at one time and had been covered up and pointed to a partial and obscured signature on bottom left. The painting is framed and the frame is about 41.75 x 36 .75 inches and the art itself is about 35.25 x 30 inches. He said it was over cleaned but that it was a fabulous painting. My sister in law is an artist and grad of UM in art and I sent her photos she said it looked early 19th c but could be earlier since the sandals appear to be much earlier than 19th c and artists tend to paint clothing and footwear by their current style. She thought the donkey might have been done by an apprentice but that the rest of it was painted by an old master /style artist. Appears to be in very good condition for its age with appropriate wear. Pardon the glare in the photos as it was difficult to capture it and I will try to get a better photo.
