Very rare Sevres France bisque clock and S Marti French movement with a small bust of Marie Antoinette on a column with a swag of roses around the column. The clock has been working, my clock guys say French clocks are the most sensitive so the surface must be completely level, otherwise it won't work properly. It is about 22.25" tall and the base is about 7.25" square. It has the Sevres mark inside the base as shown. There are bas relief bronze panels near the bottom with frolicking cherubs.
Condition: overall very good considering this is almost 120 years old and the porcelain is prone to damage and stains since it is not glazed. There are old losses and repairs to the flower swags on buds and leaves. Some of the beads around the column look to be replaced/repaired. No obvious chips that I can note. The repairs are very old and show some discoloration and peeling. The bisque is a bit dirty from years of being on a mantle in an old home in San Diego and needs proper cleaning and I see tiny spots around the top of her nose area. I was told a rubber eraser would help and I did try it out and it worked although it really eats up the eraser so stock up. The back door panel is missing and easily replaced with another.
There are some threaded holes on bottom of base as seen and may have had an attached base originally, but it is no longer there. Clock has been working great although it is running a little behind and that would be adjusting the pendulum weight turning the screw one way or the other.
Displays beautifully and again not a common piece. I have seen the larger Sevres busts of Marie Antoinette but never on a clock. Professionally packed and shipped with insurance.
