The top tier is Four [ 4.00 ] inches in height and seven & One Quarter [ 7.25 ] inches in diameter. The total weight of the three tazzas is Sixty-Eight [68.00] Troy ounces. Condition: One small dent on the edge of the smaller compote there is a very tiny wobble when placed on middle tazza and some light surface scratching commensurate with age. No monograms.
La Paglia had immigrated to the United States from Europe before World War II. He had studied his craft with the Danish designer, Georg Jensen. Much of what La Paglia designed was in the style of Georg Jensen. which is evident in the three tiered tazza. La Paglia became affiliated with Georg Jensen, Inc. USA. When the retailer was cut off from its supplier after the German occupation of Denmark, La Paglia attempted to supplement the inventory with his own designs "in the Jensen Style." Such pieces were marked Georg Jensen, but the Danish parent subsequently closed its New York branch, at least for the duration of the war. La Paglia then went to work for International Silver where he remained until his death in 1953. He produced many designs for International, lavishly executed, Georg Jensen designs always being his inspiration.
