Very special sculpture/plaque by listed artist William Ordway Partridge (1861-1930) born in France to American parents and was known for his many works over his career. He exhibited at the World's Exposition in 1893 and has a well known bronze of Pocahontas in Jamestown VA. E Gruet Jne Fondeur Foundry Paris France entitled, The Dream.
This plaque is dated 1891 but has a great Art Nouveau looks to the woman's profile. I found one in marble that was titled THE DREAM. This is gilded bronze and may have been in a building back when and could be an architectural piece. The back has a bolt in the center with some glue residue and a partial hook with a blob of grey metal which may have been added much later. The gilding is beautiful and it is marked on back on bottom and side. It is about 12.5" wide and tall and just beautiful.
