Update: The cobalt blue glass insert is in place now and the lid fits over the bowl. There may be a little nick to the glass but overall condition very nice. The lid rim is a little dented but again it fits well over the bowl.
Here is a 950 sterling silver gorgeous antique sugar bowl/casket by the French Silver company Harleux. Pierced basket weave bottom with beautiful scrolled handles resting on four feet. The lid has a grape motif on top as you can see and the piece is about 8" long and about 6.25" tall with lid on. It has a cobalt blue glass insert that fits but I think it is too tall as when you place the insert, the lid does not fully rest on it as it does without the insert. I think the glass insert needs to be ground down just a little for a perfect lid fit.
The sugar bowl is in excellent condition for its age with the bottom of 2 of its feet having a dent or two and the thin edge of the lid that fits in the bowl, has some denting like someone forced it on with the glass insert inside and the cover finial is a little loose. It has Minerva 950 marks and the Harleux hallmark. It weighs about 9.6 oz or about 270 grams on my postal scale. This weight is for the silver only not the insert.
