Here is a beautiful Wedgwood Staffordshire, mid 19th century, dry bisque finish game dish with lid. It is oval in shape, molded with clusters of hanging dead game birds on outside joined by swags of grapevines, cover with dead birds and game in bas relief and hare finial, glazed interior, impressed "WEDGWOOD" and "WVB" on bottom as shown. It measures about 10.5" long (measured from the bottom of dish) 8" wide and about 6.25" tall to top of rabbit finial. You could put Easter grass in it with dyed eggs for an Easter centerpiece (I know, the dead birds.....but for a hunter?)
excellent for its age and what it was used for. No chips or cracks noticed, (possibly very tiny bites but I really don't see any) some oven staining on lid and bottom with an old tape mark residue.
