1800's Applique Quilt .. most likely an original design
Thin cotton batting, narrow binding brought forward from reverse treadled ~ makes me wonder if a worn separate binding was replaced.
Fine hand-quilting throughout, atop and around all applique pieces ~ flowers, arcs, leaves, hearts, circle hexes, and quite a few original to the quilter filler designs
10-11 stitches per inch per side
Bright red, rosy pink, ecru/beige
slight overall slight fading and the tiniest imaginable light 'spatter' almost invisible age marks, which a soak would take care of handily.
Quite a delightfully whimsical bold applique, c., 1850
